Regarding the Town of Sidney Transfer Station

Over the past weekend, January 10-12, 2025 the Selectboard was made aware of events that transpired at the Transfer Station that were upsetting to several residents.

The attendants took the initiative to attempt to streamline the disposal of waste and recycling, for the sake of convenience and safety, to change the method by which residents disposed of these items following an accident that occurred at the Transfer Station.

The board realizes that there was concern surrounding the changes made, and would like to make Town residents aware that this will not be the ongoing operative procedure.

We apologize for any distress or inconvenience this may have caused and wish to assure residents that going forward the attendants will be there to assist and oversee disposal to ensure that all patrons comply with the necessary bag stickers and permits.

We understand that there may be a need to develop a more efficient traffic pattern to ensure both ease of use and safety, and are in the process of evaluating this.

The Selectboard will make residents aware ahead of time of any changes to disposal procedures.

Thank you for your understanding as we endeavor to maintain the Transfer Station in a convenient, safe, and fiscally sound manner.

ALL PERMITS MUST BE GIVEN TO ATTENDENT BEFORE ITEMS ARE DISPOSED OF. 

TRASH STICKERS MUST BE ALL ON TRASH BAGS. 

It is illegal and punishable by fine to dump trash on road sides or anywhere other than the designated Transfer Station receptacles!
